fotoNarni looks like a stronghold guarding the entrance to Valnerina. The untouched high arches of the imposing Augustus bridge soar high above the valley and inside the walls the medieval streets slope up to Piazza dei Priori with the 13th-century Palazzo del Podestà and S. Giovenale Cathedral, dedicated to the first bishop of the town. Further up the perfectly restored Fortress which was built by Cardinal Albornoz. Don’t miss San Cassiano Abbey, surrounded by age-old ilexes, and the «underground town» which features a church with 13th and 15th-century frescoes and a cell, used by the Inquisition, with prisoners’ graffiti.
