fotoIt was built in a strategic position, as shown by its medieval walls. It is called the «balcony of Umbria», a title it fully deserves, since from its walls you can get a marvellous bird’s-eye view of the Umbrian valley from Perugia to Spoleto. The town is rich in art treasures and spiritual life, brightened by the mystical figure of St. Clare. Don’t miss the Church of St. Francis, today a museum, with the wonderful frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli which portray scenes from the life of St. Francis. All around Montefalco there are olive groves and vineyards which produce famous wines like «Sagrantino», one of the most renowned Italian wines.
